Hey guys I’ve had quite a few people asking how I get my gifs so vibrant so I’ve decided to make a small tutorial to help. Let’s get started:
1. first open your photoshop (CC or Cs6 it doesn’t matter)
2. next go to: file > import > video frames to layers
3. choose the video you would like to make a gif out of
4. select the section of the video you want to gif using the small black clippers under the video player - then click OK
5. if timeline at the bottom of your screen does not automatically open, go to: window > timeline.
6. go down to your timeline and select the frames you wish to delete NOT SAVE. 40 is usually the best gif length if its available in your selection. to delete a large group of layers hold SHIFT while clicking on the first frame and the last frame of the group you wish to delete.
7. shift+click on the first frame and shift+click on the last frame. then click on “0.04″ and change the numbers to “0.12″ by clicking on other.
8. now its time to crop your photo. the best size of a tumblr gif is 250x140. enter this in at the top bar in the boxes. (cut out all that “cw etcetc)
9. scroll to your top layer on your right panel and click on it. this way the effects you put on the gifs will effect every layer.
start adding the following layers for vibrant colouring:
10. when adding hue/saturation DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT bring up any colours. this will make for pixelation and it doesn’t look pretty. bring down whatever colour that is negetively affecting your gif. In this case mine were the reds.
11. make a black and white gradient layer and set it to “exclusion” at 33% opacity.
12. now you have to alter the size. go to: image > image size. then change it to 250x140.
If anyone sees an edit of mine with Raven on the cover of Cosmo magazine I was not intentionally sexualizing Raven as a character. The choice of Cosmo magazine was a result of not being able to find a large enough image of Lindsey Morgan that would work for Women’s Health Magazine. I would never purposely offend and sexualize ANY woman ESPECIALLY because of race and culture, please stop sending me hate mail and tagging the edit as being racist towards poc characters as it was not my intentions and I truly put effort into making Ravens portion about mechanics and healthy lifestyle but Lindsey did not have as many photoshoots to choose from. Thank you.
